Event News You Can Use
Hello, and happy holidays! It is bittersweet to write this month’s newsletter. I have many creative ideas to share with you, yet this will be my last posh
newsletter … at least, for now.
Almost 10 years ago, I started my small business to help people celebrate … initially, as posh parties to help people entertain in their homes, and now, as posh productions, to include corporate and nonprofit celebrations. Throughout the years, I’ve worked with great clients, many who are now my friends. They trusted me with their special events and challenged me to design and produce extraordinary celebrations. I’m grateful for their business.
In September, I accepted a wonderful opportunity to produce a variety of events for the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce. This is very exciting for me and my family. So, for now, I’m working full-time with the Chamber and less time on posh. That said, I’m only a phone call or email away to help you solve your event planning challenges.
On to the creative ideas … there are many featured below from recent events, as well as my ‘office holiday party’ article published in this month’s posh seven magazine! Enjoy.
Wishing you an ‘eventful’ holiday season and many reasons to celebrate in the New Year,
Ashleigh Dorfman, CSEP
|Ghouls Got Talent!
Need entertainment for your next party? Get your guests involved. Interactive entertainment is universally successful for most types of events. For example … at this year’s annual Boo Bash, I hosted a talent show inspired by America’s Got Talent
Kids and adults, individually and as a group, showed off their singing, dancing, juggling, hula-hooping skills and more with the help of a DJ and celebrity judges, “Howard Stein” as Dracula and “Heidi Klum” as a Glamorous Witch. Best. Party. Ever!
The kids inspired each other to perform.
Thanks to “Howard” from Cast of Thousands
for sharing the above photo. I lost all of my photos or I would show you the chevron green linens from Select Event Rentals
; the chili and hot dog dinner from Fusions Cuisine
; the DJ from Bialek’s Music
… and how I transformed my garage into one spectacular party room complete with black pipe and drape and colorful lights.
|Nickelodeon Bat Mitzvah!
Do you know a tween that loves Nickelodeon’s Sam & Cat, iCarly, Victorious
or Big Time Rush
? They would have loved this Bat Mitzvah!
accepted my design challenge to create custom TV table centerpieces for all her favorite Nickelodeon shows! Fabulous!
The banquet room was transformed into a vibrant pink and green party room. Love the Chartreuse and Pink ‘Lulu” linen I discovered at DC Rental
Custom TV escort cards … ‘Thanks for Tuning in to Savanna’s Bat Mitzvah
!’ Get it?!
DJ Dustin, recommended by Bialek’s Music
, entertained the kids with games, songs and party favors!Last but not least, many thanks to Focus Fine Photography
for capturing all of the fun highlights – including these photos – for our client!
|New Year’s Eve Glam!
Does your New Year’s Eve party need a little punch of personality? Add balloons … not kids’ balloons, rather a sophisticated black, gold and silver balloon centerpiece like this:
Designed by Festive Effects
for the Reston Chamber’s Gold & Silver Soiree
last week, this sophisticated gold balloon bouquet (tied to a champagne bottle) jazzed up the atmosphere, creating a truly special event for guests to enjoy. Photo courtesy of Focus Fine Photography.
Office Holiday Party
Yes, Virginia … there is a Santa! During the holiday season, and throughout the year, we have the wonderful opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our less fortunate neighbors. The unexpected reward is that we often benefit from helping others; a business may expect happier employees, improved team performance, and ultimately, satisfied customers, which generally translates into greater profits!
Read more in the December issue of posh seven magazine for my inspiring ideas to help you plan an office holiday party that benefits your community.
